Quality Assurance

Fe Portal adopts the requirements set out in AS/NZS 5131 and relevant NCC specifications to ensure fabrication conformance.

QA includes:

  • ILAC accredited 3rd party testing, inspection, and certification

    • Welds

    • Dimensional tolerances

    • Mill certificate approval

    • Grade testing

    • Coating thicknesses

  • ITPs

  • Adherence to Fe Portals technical specifications document

  • Potential Green Star opportunities

    • Recycled steel content

    • Tonnage savings due to PEB technology and use of higher grade steel

  • Factory quality accreditations

  • Engineering certification

  • Fe Portal employs on-the-ground staff in China to ensure QA compliance

Process

Design

  • Fe Portal has the ability to adopt existing engineering design or value engineer using PEB technology

Detailing

  • Fe Portal provides the full suite of workshop detailing for all steel-framing and components associated with the project

Procurement

  • Five of the largest mills in China supply steel to Fe Portal’s factory, and regularly supply to Australian wholesalers

Fabrication

  • Fabrication capacity of over 1500T per week

  • Fe Portal’s factory specialises solely in export quality steel to US, UK & Australia

Coating

  • The fabricated steel is shot blast and either hot-dip galvanised or painted with many different paint options

  • Painted steel is cloth-wrapped and protected during transportation

Delivery

  • Fabricated steel is packed, through great care and planning, onto steel skids and loaded into 40ft sea containers

  • Shipping is ex Shanghai and can be delivered to any Australian port, then to site

Install

  • Installation of the steel-framing can be offered, subject to location
